TO THE MAYOR, TO THE GREATER LONDON ASSEMBLY, TO MP’S, TO COUNTY AND BOROUGH COUNCILS. – LISTEN TO RESIDENTS – AND STOP ULEZ EXPANSION.
STOP the ULEZ Expansion TAX on Londoners, The Home Counties, UK Residents, UK Businesses and International Visitors!

This petition is to oppose the London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s ULEZ money making plan for TFL and London City Centre that residents can neither afford, nor will they significantly benefit from.

This campaign supports the “OUTER LONDON BOROUGHS” who object, and the “HOME COUNTIES” communities who although [THEY ARE NOT IN LONDON] are situated around the periphery who would find little or no air quality improvements from an extended ULEZ – They too would still find themselves having to pay!

ALTHOUGH THIS IS A FIGHT “WE SHOULD NOT NEED TO HAVE” GIVEN WHAT PEOPLE ARE CURRENTLY DEALING WITH. – THIS IS A FIGHT FOR “COMMON SENSE” THAT WE MUST WIN AGAINST THIS SHAMEFUL LEGISLATION!

THE SPELTHORNE BOROUGH EXAMPLE – AND IT IS TYPICAL OF SO MANY OTHER AREAS!
Stanwell Moor and Stanwell in Spelthorne like the majority of other areas would find [NO AIR QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS] from an extended ULEZ. – More so, given we have arguably the one of the country’s biggest polluters but also the region’s largest employer [HEATHROW AIRPORT] in our community.

WE ARE NOT EVEN A LONDON BOROUGH, but our residents “HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE”. – We ”NEED TO DRIVE ON THE ROADS” around the airport on a daily basis. – As 76,000 work there including the majority of our residents.

*In fact many Spelthorne and Hillingdon borough residents would say that Heathrow Airport should compensate us for living here, given the pollution we suffer daily from aircraft and other airport related blight.”

Currently drivers are charged £12.50 per day to drive within the zone if your vehicle does not comply.
Should this go ahead that could cost everyone over £4,500 per year just to go about your day or earn a living!

SCRAPPAGE: – Mr Khan, people need their [EXISTING CARS – JUST TO MAKE ENDS MEET], they should not be forced to sell at a large discount. – The reality is most people these days find it hard enough to afford the PETROL or DIESEL to get them to where they need to be and they do not have the luxury of LONDON-CITY-CENTRE transport services.

*The ULEZ charge [is effectively a fine] on those who work in and around London and the Home Counties who cannot afford a newer ULEZ compliant vehicle.

We understand that air quality is important and needs to be improved but vehicles are cleaner than they have ever been. The reality is pushing through a ULEZ expansion in the outer boroughs and impacting communities even further afield who will see no benefit from it makes no sense. To do it when you know ULEZ on its own does not work is scandalous. To carry on with this WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT INVESTMENT IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT is RECKLESS and it is WRONG.

The expansion of this boundary is unacceptable, when we are recovering from an unprecedented World pandemic, and we are now in the middle of a cost of living crisis. – This is no more than a TfL STEALTH TAX!

FACTS:

  • ULEZ expansion without [Public Transport Investment] is wrong!
  • Expansion in the middle of a [Cost-of-Living-Crisis] is wrong!
  • Thousands will be trapped by an unaffordable £4,500 per year tax!
  • Mr Khan’s advisors have told him ULEZ on its own does NOT work!
  • The overwhelming [MAJORITY] of London [voted against it] – in the official consultation!
  • 60% of responses opposed
  • 70% of Outer London opposed
  • 75% of London’s visitors opposed
  • 80% of Outer London businesses opposed
  • 80% of Outer London employees opposed
  • 90% of London’s black cab drivers opposed
  • Has anyone even considered the UK economic damage if 19million Heathrow Passengers are included?

This campaign may have begun in SPELTHORNE borough but it applies to every single Outer London, every Home County borough and every community near to this proposed boundary. – SO, IT IS IMPORTANT TO EVERYONE!

Here are just some of the communities that surround this proposed area. Residents who are “NOT LONDONERS” but need to drive in the expanded area for work, doctor’s or hospital appointments, shopping or to be with families.

Ashford, – Staines – Wraysbury, East Molesey – Iver Heath – Gerrards Cross – Chelfont St Peters – Rickmansworth, Bushey – Radlett – Potters Bar – Cheshunt – Waltham Abbey – Loughton – Chigwell – Grange Hill – Brentwood – South Ockenden – Purfleet – Eynsford – Shoreham – Westerham – Warlingham – Caterham – Banstead – Ewell – Oxshott – Claygate – Esher – and many, many more!

THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WILL FALL FOUL OF THIS “CYNICAL TAX GRAB” TO BOOST TFL’S COFFERS.

*SO, EVEN IF YOU HAVE A COMPLIANT CAR, – “PLEASE SUPPORT THOSE WHO DO NOT” – WHO CAN’T AFFORD ONE?

*EVEN IF YOU NOT LIVE NEAR LONDON – “PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION” – BECAUSE IF THIS IS ALLOWED IN LONDON – IT WILL SOON COME TO OTHER UK TOWNS AND CITIES!

WE ARE CALLING ON BOROUGHS UNDER THREAT. WE ASK SURREY, BERKSHIRE, HERTFORDSHIRE, ESSEX AND KENT COUNCILS TO PROTECT YOUR BOROUGHS, AND WE ASK EVERY RESIDENT TO GET INVOLVED AND LET GOVERNMENT HEAR OUR VOICE.
